Twenty people, one day, playable quests

Immersed Games ran its first hackathon on August 4, hosted by Paul Darvasi and Elisa Navarro Chinchilla as a pre-conference event for the Serious Play Conference at Duke University.
About twenty instructional designers, builders, and educators spent the day in the room, and the group built playable quests in a single day — not slideware and not paper prototypes, but experiences that could be picked up and played by the time demos began.
The closing demos were the high point. Teams had taken the toolset somewhere genuinely their own, and the room was visibly delighted with what each group had made.
Thanks also to Melanie Stegman, who helped set up the space and haul supplies for the day.
